1. Go Where The Jobs Are
This may seem obvious at first, but there’s always someone who complains about not being able to find any home based jobs in their local newspaper. I’m not saying that the local newspaper, or even the major job publications aren’t good sources of home based jobs. But if you’re only relying on these, you are certainly missing out on some of the best sources of home based business work opportunities. These sources are the popular freelance sites such as Elance, RentACoder and ScriptLance.
Basically, companies use these sites to post work they need done. In most, cases these companies are looking for people who can perform the job in their own home or office. That’s why these sites are full of home based computer jobs, home jobs for moms, and other home based job opportunities. These are certainly the right places to go if you want to start offering your services and find work from home opportunities. In fact, there are many people and companies that get most of their business from such sites.
2. Be Professional
Once you get hired for one or more home based jobs, it’s your responsibility to deliver on what you’ve promised to the company in a timely manner. With so many others trying to get the same work, you’d have to be crazy not to do a superb job and be professional at all times. In a sense you are serving customers, so don’t forget that the customer is always right.
3. Seek Repeat Business
If you do a good job and the company has a need for the same or similar services on an ongoing basis, you want to persuade them to give that repeat business to you. Chances are, the company will be pleased to give the work to someone they can trust. Don’t be afraid to ask your current customers for more work.
4. Get Referrals
Apart from looking for repeat business, another way to keep up the stream of home based income is to ask current clients for referrals. You may need to do some convincing, but if you’ve done an excellent job, they’ll probably be happy to help you out by referring other customers to you. You must also avoid taking on more work than you can handle and the last thing you want to happen is to fail to deliver on your promises.
